among
U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals 2009," and

Life Flight Reaccredited
In 2009,
Life Flight, Baptist Health's air ambulance service, was reaccredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS). The voluntary accreditation, which is for three years, is the result of a site visit and a thorough review by CAMTS of documentation for all aspects of the program, including education, safety, patient care, the quality assurance process, aircraft maintenance schedules, and other guidelines.
In 2007, and again in 2009, the Stroke Centers at Baptist Medical Center Downtown and Baptist Medical Center South earned the Gold Seal of Approval for stroke care.

Four Baptist Health Hospitals Achieve Chest Pain Accreditation
The
Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) has granted the designation of Accredited Chest Pain Center to three Baptist Health hospitals: Baptist Medical Center Downtown, Baptist Medical Center Beaches, Baptist Medical Center Nassau and Baptist Medical Center South.

Baptist Health Earns Magnet Recognition
Baptist Health was notified by the
American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) that it has achieved recognition as a Magnet Health Care System, an international quality designation enjoyed by less than five percent of hospitals in the country. The University of Florida Pediatric Cardiovascular Center, a partnership between Wolfson Children's Hospital and the University of Florida/Jacksonville, offers diagnosis and treatment of infants, children and young adults with congenital and acquired heart disease. The joint program, which performed more than 6,000 echocardiograms last year, is accredited by the
Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL). The Cardiovascular Center's two echocardiography laboratories - the inpatient lab located at Wolfson Children's Hospital and the outpatient lab located in the Aetna Building - were among less than 20 pediatric labs in the United States to have achieved accreditation in three modalities: pediatric transthoracic, pediatric transesophageal and fetal echocardiography. The center was the first in Florida to accomplish this.
