Charity Care and Financial Discount Policy

At Baptist Health, we are sensitive to the needs of patients who are unsure if they can afford the care they need. As part of our ongoing commitment to community health, it is our policy to help our patients understand the financial resources that may be available to help them.

Financial counseling to assist patients in gaining access to government sources of medical assistance such as Medicaid, as well as other state and local programs.
Financial assistance to uninsured patients who qualify for our charity care policy, which provides free or discounted hospital care to qualifying patients.
Flexible payment plans based on their financial status and total amount due. Our goal is to help patients satisfy their financial responsibilities in a way that is fair and considerate of their circumstances.

It is important for our patients to provide the necessary information that allows us to offer discounts and other financial assistance. To qualify for charity care, you may be asked to complete a simple form. Additional information may be needed to verify your family income and assets.

Guidelines for Charity Care Eligibility

To determine if you qualify for charity care, we consider how much income your family receives per year, how many people are in your family, and what other household financial resources you may have ("discretionary assets"). We compare the information you provide us with the current Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG). The chart below is a general guideline:
